LAST year, people from all over the UK came together to raise phenomenal amounts of money for the BBC Children in Need 2018 appeal.
But how much was raised and who were the presenters and acts? Here’s the lowdown on last year’s shenanigans…

How much did Children in Need 2018 raise?
Children in Need is renowned for raising large amounts of money to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people around the UK.
And last year was no exception. The 2018 appeal raised a total of £50,595,053 for Children in Need.
This broke records by raising the most amount of money a charity had ever managed in one evening.
The money raised during the evening meant that the charity has now raised over £1 billion since the first major Appeal in 1980.
In 2017, the charity raised £50,168,562, which was a big step up from 2016 when £46,624,259 was raised.

Who presented Children in Need 2018?
Tess Daly has been the main presenter of the show since 2016 and a co-presenter since 2008.
2018 was comedian Rob’s first year hosting the show – he replaced Matt Edmondson who was a presenter in 2017.
Speaking last year about the opportunity to present the show, Rob said: “I am so excited to be presenting BBC Children in Need this year. It’s a British institution and a wonderful charity, so to be asked to help out is a huge honour.
“My parents are gonna be bursting with pride. I also get to meet Pudsey! I can’t wait!”

Who performed at Children in Need 2018?
2018 saw some of the most vibrant and entertaining acts that the appeal has seen.
The show started with a performance by the cast of West End musical School of Rock before Tess Daly and co-host Ade Adepitan opened the show.
It also saw a special surprise message organised by Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker – for a young fan with cystic fibrosis.
It was played for her while she was watching the show and revealed she was being treated to a trip to the set in her very own Tardis.

Following the emotional surprise, there was an Eastenders Disney spectacular. Delighted fans were treated to their favourite soap stars reenacting musical numbers from classics including Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Frozen.
Belle from Beauty and the Beast was played by Shona McGarty, known as Whitney Dean in the soap. She delighted fans by walking through Albert Square and singing just like the character in the beloved kids movie.
From singing to dancing, 2018 saw the return of viewers favourite – The Strictly segment.
The stars of Boyzone competed against each other for the special Pudsey Glitter Ball.
Other celebs who put on their dancing shoes for charity were Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham and Keith Duffy.
There were also appearances from the stars of Country File and The One Show, who all helped raise money for the organisation, and a special edition of Mastermind to test viewers brains.
The star studded event was topped off by even more celeb appearances from stars including Craig David, Olly Murs and Little Mix.
