A TEACHER and her cop husband have been arrested for allegedly raping a child and making indecent images.
Cynthia Perkins, 34, and Dennis Perkins, 44, were taken in after cops claimed to have found naked photos of them with a child.
The couple from Denham Spring, Louisiana were investigated after a tip-off from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
Since their alleged abuse came to light, Mr Perkins has been fired from Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO).
Mrs Perkins was suspended from teaching middle school children in the state, People magazine reported.
STUDENT SAFETY FIRST
She was later confirmed to have resigned from Westside Junior High School.
In a statement the school district said they were “committed to the safety and security of all students and employees”.
They added that they would full comply with the investigation.
It is a sad day for us, for all law enforcement officers, when you arrest one of your own.
Statement from Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office
The sheriff’s office where Perkins worked said in a statement: “It is a sad day for us… when you arrest one of your own.
“This type of alleged behaviour will not be tolerated by me or anyone at the LPSO.
“I do not condone these alleged acts. I am disappointed.”
They claimed to consider Mr Perkins “a friend and a family member.”
‘VETERAN’ COMMUNITY COP
“This was a veteran law enforcement officer, one who had dedicated a lot of time and effort into this community,” they added.
The case is now in the hands of the Attorney’s office, who police have vowed to help “in any way” they can.
Attorney General Jeff Landry said: “Protecting Louisiana children is one of my top priorities.
“So my office and I will continue to do all we can to find and arrest child predators.”
CHILD UNDER 13
Mr and Mrs Dennis have both been charged with 60 counts of producing pornography that involved a child under 13.
They also face two counts of first degree rape.
Mr Dennis has been charged with two counts of video voyeurism, two counts of obscenity and obstruction of justice.
The latter charge was added after he allegedly chucked it into a river after he knew he was about to be arrested, Fox 8 wrote.
