MILEY Cyrus has undergone vocal cord surgery and must spend several weeks in silence, according to reports.
The Wrecking Ball singer, 26, is now on the mend after being released from hospital, sources told PEOPLE.
Doctors are understood to have found a separate issue with her vocal cords when she was hospitalised for tonsillitis.
Miley had unknowingly lived with this problem for years, according to reports.
After learning of the issue, Miley was told she would need to have surgery before the end of the year, and that the recovery process would include several weeks of silence.
Unfortunately this means the new music that Miley has been working on with need to be put on hold.
But a source close to the star said she is “doing great and will be back and better than ever early next year.”
Boyfriend Cody Simpson posted a photo with his latest love that appeared to make reference to the surgery, captioning the pic “success”.
Cyrus, who split with Liam Hemsworth in August this year, shared that she had taken a break from singing three weeks ago.
“On vocal rest not body,” said the singer.
In October, Cyrus was admitted to hospital for one day and is understood to have undergone surgery for tonsillitis.
Since then, she shared photos of herself wearing suspenders and a bondage skirt to kiss boyfriend Cody on Halloween.
The 26-year-old singer and her Aussie lover ramped up the passion in a string of X-rated photos on Instagram.
Earlier, Miley had applied Cody’s make-up before slipping into her lace corset and fishnet tights.
She shared a snap with a leg wrapped around the topless musician before revealing Cody, 22, dressed as rocker Billy Idol. In another snap, he held her bum in his hands and captioned it: “BILLY F**IN IDOL LOVES PERRI F**KIN LISTER ”
Clearly wanting to get her message across, Miley posted a video of the pair snogging which she captioned: “It’s easy to tease but hard to get release … ”
But some of her fans were left annoyed over the intimate posts and one said: “What is going on” as another wrote: “This has to stop”.

Miley posted her stream of outrageous photos just days after ex Liam, 29, began work on rebuilding his £5.3 million LA home – which is awkwardly just metres away from estranged wife Miley’s mansion.
The pad is just a stone’s throw from the £1.95 million ranch Miley is sharing with Cody.
