But the competition really heats up now as they look ahead to reaching a first World Cup final since 2007.
What is England’s route to the final?
Quarter-finals
With the top two places in Pool C still to be confirmed, England could finish top or second behind France.
Yet, they know they will face Wales or Australia with the two sides in a similar predicament.
Should Eddie Jones’ men take top spot, they will face the runners-up of Pool D.
Semi-finals
If England were to knock out either Wales or Australia, then the reigning World Cup holders are on offer in the final four with six teams still able to progress from the other two groups.
They could also face Japan, Scotland or Ireland from Pool A, while the All Blacks hope to join South Africa in the quarter finals.
Meanwhile, Italy are looking to pull off the biggest ever Rugby World Cup shock and knock out New Zealand – but can only finish second and would only face England if they too were runners-up ion the group stages.

Final
This can be a number of teams, with Wales or Australia able to go all the way if England do not knock them out in the quarter-finals.
The remaining sides Owen Farrell and co could have played in the Last Four will also still in with a chance.
And France will be hoping to navigate their way to the showpiece in Yokohama.

England will face France in their final Pool C match in a battle to decide the top two.
Yet, Eddie Jones’ side could finish first without having to play as Super Typhoon Hagibis threatens to call off the game.
Should that happen, both teams will get two points each for a 0-0 draw, meaning England will go through as group winners as they currently lead the table.
