CORONATION Street stars Sally Ann Matthews and Jennie McAlphine have teased that the Christmas day special will keep fans on the edge of their seats.
With the festive season vast approaching, some of Weatherfield’s local residents have given fans the low down on what to expect this Christmas – and it’s set to be the most explosive to date.

Jennie McAlphine, 35 who plays Fiz Brown in the popular ITV soap, has hinted that the drama that is due to hit our screens in December could even result in a character being killed off – but wouldn’t reveal who.
She told The Daily Star: “I’ve read the script for Christmas Eve.
“It’s quite dramatic. I’m not sure if I’ll be getting any turkey this year. Fiz is going to be quite busy!
“I can’t say if anyone dies. If I told someone that, I’d have to kill them!”

To add to the excitement of what’s to come, Sally Ann Matthews, 49 who plays Jenny Bradley in the soap added: “I’ve just received scripts for Christmas.
“What I can say is it’s beyond dramatic. It’s big and edge-of-your-seat stuff. It’s not just one story either. There are several big stories happening.”
Despite normally opting for a cheery Christmas episode, this year the soap bosses have opted for something a little different.
She added: “We usually have feelgood Christmas episodes. And this year it certainly starts off that way.
“People will want to tune in for it on Christmas Day. My advice is not to have too much turkey and eggnog so you’ll still be awake enough to watch it!”
One storyline that has been very prominent in Coronation Street this year has been Sinead Tinker’s (Katie McGlynn) battle with cervical cancer – and fans can expect more heartbreaking scenes later on this week.
The mum-of-one’s friends and family are left heartbroken later this week as her health starts to deteriorate and they begin to question if she will be able to celebrate her son Bertie’s first Christmas.
However, Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment) decides to surprise Sinead with an early yuletide with her friends Beth, Craig, Adam and Tracy.
