BEAUTY fans will know the glitter nail polish struggle is real.

Yes it looks amazing when it’s on, but boy do you need to work to get it looking that way.

The problem is it takes loads of coats to build up a decent layer of glitter, meaning you’re stuck applying layer after layer to ensure the sparkles are even.

Well no more, because nail vlogger Kelli Marissa has come up with a genius hack which cuts time and makes glitter polish look as amazing on as it does in the bottle.

Even better, the process will probably be quicker than doing an ordinary manicure is.

This is a step-by-step process and you’ll need a few things:

  • base coat
  • liquid latex
  • glitter polish
  • a make-up sponge
  • top coat

First of all you should apply your base coat like you normally would and then leave to dry.

Once that’s done apply the liquid latex all around the edge of your nail, onto your skin.

Obviously if you’re allergic to latex skip this step, or use an alternative. This bit isn’t actually essential, it just makes clearing up any mess easier as it can be peeled off at the end.

Next get that make-up sponge and paint your glitter shade on to the corner of it.

Take the corner and dab the glitter on to your nail – you’ll immediately see it goes on a lot thicker than usual.

The glitter won’t pool in some areas and leave others completely bare either, and you’ll probably only need one coat.

What’s happening is the majority of the polish the glitter is set in is being soaked up by the sponge.

Left behind is the sticky glitter, which can suction on your nails.

Once you have the coverage you want leave it to dry (you’ll be amazed how quickly that happens) and then apply your top coat.

The final step is to yank of that latex, all that will be left are perfectly sparkly nails.

Even if you’re not a glitter polish fan there’s a chance you’ve been painting your nails wrong the whole time… as that soaking step we all do does more harm than good.

Meanwhile, we shared how Wilko launched a gel nail polish collection for £1.60 a pot… and beauty fans raved about them.
